Use Plug-ins to Share Your Digital Media

Share your digital media with others on your blog and website. With plug-ins, the task of sharing is simple. Plug-ins are sets of software components used in web browsers and other places to add capabilities to larger applications. Open source programs like VLC are very popular in managing multimedia files.

Slide Shows. Think about how you want your slideshow to look on your website. Do you want it to run as a background for your entire site? Do you want it in a small area? Think about the transitions you want between the images in your slideshow and consider how fast or slow you want the images to scroll by. Decide whether or not you want to have music accompanying the slide show. Once you come up with a plan for what you want on your website, browse through the free plug-ins offered by various websites such as WordPress or JQuery to scan through your options. Find the plug-in that matches your unique specifications a then download and install the plug-in.

Video. A popular plug-in for displaying video on a website is the QuickTime plug-in. It allows you to play a wide variety of movies. Even though it is published by Apple Computer Inc., you can download it and install it on any Mac or Windows computer.  Open source programs are free and programs like Media Player and VLC allow you to download and view videos files in any format.

Pictures. Play with images by using photo plug-ins that allow you to retouch images, convert them to black-and-white, manipulate detail, apply blurs, and control saturation.

Music. Stream music on your website using the RealPlayer plug-in. You can create your own library and share it with others on Windows or Mac.   Excellent alternatives are freeware programs like  KM Player or BS Player, both of which allow the user to download and share music files to your computer or mobile device.

File Sharing. If you want to share files that are too lee, but they are easy to use. All it takes is a simple download.
