At the start of every New Year, thousands of technology fans pour into Las Vegas. They’re not there for the shows or the all-you-can-eat shrimp buffets. They are there for the prospect of seeing the latest in gizmos, gadgets and hardware presented at the Consumer Electronics Show. Just like the annual International Detroit Auto Show is for car fanatics to check out the concept cars of tomorrow, the CES is for folks who want to stay two steps ahead of everyone else when it comes to new technology.
All the major players will be on hand at this year’s CES. Among the industry leaders represented will be Microsoft, Apple, Sony, Panasonic, Sun Systems, Adobe, Mitsubishi, Verizon, ATT – the list is endless. Basically if it has anything to do with digital media, file sharing, software, hardware, computers, apps, gaming or anything with a remote it will be on proud display on the exhibition floor.
That exhibition floor is jammed packed from the moment the doors open. Companies go out of their way to create exciting booth experiences. This is the electronics show after all, so you can expect to be inundated with bold HD displays and flashing monitors in all shapes and sizes.
Not only is the CES the best time to get a look at the latest and greatest from the tech biz, but it’s also a chance to converse with fellow users. This is where the real product reviews matter. For new apps or devices the CES can be make or break. If you’re a manufacturer, you want to create a positive buzz and have folks lining up to take your product for a test drive. The CES isn’t for selling, it’s for showing. You might not be able to walk away with a new device, but you’ll certainly put it on your wish list.
